Why? Well think of it this way. If she's smiling at you then you're probably on the right track anyway. Complimenting a smile or even eyes WHILE they're smiling at you is about as genuine as it can get even between strangers. If she takes offense to that then she's likely got some other issues so just consider yourself lucky she shrugged you off now instead of later.

Sadly some folks are just too insecure to ever come across as genuine even if they are. In which case there's always porn haha. Sorry, I know that probably isn't even funny.

If they're supermodel hot then don't bother ever complimenting looks. They know it. Even guys get annoyed by that. It makes you seem shallow as fuck pointing out the obvious. Like water is wet? Again, smile compliments are nearly always safe though. ;) Just my ten cents.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34511226.post-11398350457023069982015-09-19T15:16:52.853-04:002015-09-19T15:16:52.853-04:00I just did it. I sit in the same spot in a dining ...I just did it. I sit in the same spot in a dining hall on campus and this group of girls sat down in front of me. I felt the compulsion to say something to this one girl who I thought was particularly beautiful.

My girlfriend and I broke up 3 weeks ago and I broke up three weeks ago when I left the state and moved to this new university to pursue a masters degree. It's been extremely lonely.
I have rekindled old friendships and have found new reason to sustain the ones I had made before I left, but I just got tired of going to a school of 50k+ students and only making one friend in all that time.

Grad school is very different from undergrad.
I ride my bicycle around the greater campus area and smile at everyone who looks my way. I've had amazing conversations with international students, but no connections with the exception of a Chinese girl in one of my classes; and that is slow in developing.

So, I followed the compulsion. I wrote a letter instead though. She had seen me looking at her, but everybody looks at everybody else at least once. I'm sure she caught me a couple of times. I addressed the letter to 'Stranger' and ended it with a simple 'Another Stranger, J.L.' and left it at that.

My heart was pounding. It was exciting! I caught up with her and her friends as they went to the tray return and I gave her the letter and peeled off to the bathrooms. I came back a few minutes later, half-hoping she would be there waiting for me, half-dreading she would be there waiting for me. She was not. I kept turning around for about 5 minutes expecting her to come running back.

I'm glad for the experience because I have been having trouble distinguishing the fantasy 'shoulds' from the reality. I may never see her again (I said that in the letter), but I just wanted to let her know that this one thought she was lovely and thanked her for just existing.Signal526https://www.blogger.com/profile/15778243273401097762noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34511226.post-78164134761962456812015-05-16T10:53:10.324-04:002015-05-16T10:53:10.324-04:00The real number on sign of a douchebag? A stranger striking up a conversation by any means in an effort to become less than a stranger is the most sincere compliment there is. Your not trying to make someone happy with a compliment, your trying to prove to yourself your a good person. Not just a good person but specifically not a douchebag. And then it wasn't enough to prove it to yourself, you had to write this long winded thing to prove it to us. Why don't you just have a regular conversation with that girl at the gym, and if beauty comes up, you can let her know how attractive you think she isAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34511226.post-74196952953236139512014-10-21T05:41:00.453-04:002014-10-21T05:41:00.453-04:00Thanks, good read. I've played the scenarios in my head where someone came up and randomly complimented me, sincerely... and hopefully I would say, "Wow, thank you so much." Personally... it would make my day. Just as long as I knew it was sincere, and they weren't trying to butter me up for something else. ("Wow, you are *so* handsome... want to buy some cookies from my daughter?") Though, I can't speak for other guys... I'd at least hope they wouldn't be a douche and think, "Hey, she wants my hog".V. I realized that because sometimes you can't fit even if you want, you take the negative (of being alone, different) and make it look better (I am an individual, I am special). So, sometimes it's not just a choice to be cool, but comes out of struggling to fit in. But then everyone wants in a lesser or greater degree to not be alone.

So yes, accepting your individual needs from one side but also your need to connect could be the way to go. Neither is bad.

It's just that sometimes you feel like you can still not connect. Everyone is making casual talk only at parties, no interesting things to talk about, and when you start to talk passionately about your interests or yourself, you realize it's not the style of most people, they might get bored or not have anything to say or even despise the more serious talks.

Either way, I try to learn who I am, when can I have a better time with few people and when I cannot then I stay back to myself. I wish to play in both sides but only when I feel like it's going well.

I bet everyone has different style, limits. Balance cannot be defined because it's different for each one of us.BugoTheCathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02935085187743095470noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34511226.post-54469101003704280182013-01-22T00:39:28.453-05:002013-01-22T00:39:28.453-05:00Welcome to the Internet, Anon.
